Excerpt from The Arcana Experiment

For those that don’t know, I am embarking with thousands of others upon the perilous journey that is National Novel Writing Month. Day 1 is an hour from being done, and I have written 2,727 words of the 50,000 word goal. I am working with my partner in musical proclivity, Arielle Bryant, as we do Tarot readings on the relevant characters and events to help guide and shape the story and its development. It is a fantasy novel, which is something I have attempted but never completed. You still have an hour to pick a story and get writing. Are you going to join in the melee?

Anyway, here’s the excerpt.

“Father, what of the inheritance of the power of your bloodline?” Father only sighed again and continued walking. I stopped, watching him stride with the measured steps of a burdened monolith intent on its purpose. He stopped twenty paces from me and turned on his heel with a flash of motion too fast for me to see. His hands shot towards me and I was blown back and drawn forward in the same moment, beholden to the awesome forces opposing each other within me. Father towered above me, not physically larger, but with every shred of his being having infinitely more importance than my own. As quickly as it had begun, it was gone.
